We moved into our 1950’s Cape Cod in October 2016, which we got to customize and decorate a little. With limitations and little by little. Our house isn’t as old as most of the homes in our area, but it’s old enough to be sweet and full of character. I didn’t love the archways at first, but now I am so thankful for them and the charm they add to our home 🙂
Here’s a little home tour I put together:
Front Yard (Winter and Spring)
Back Yard (Winter and Spring)
Levi’s room:
Dave and I apply Montessori practices at our home, so we wanted to make Levi’s room completely accessible for him. We haven’t settled on a bed yet, so he just has a mattress on the floor for now. Other than that, his library nook was built according to his height. We also bought an open clothing rack, so he can pick out his own clothes (so cute!), added a teepee for imaginary play and a small desk with chairs for drawing and sensory games. He uses every single inch of his room, it keeps him so busy. We all love how it turned out too!
Living Room (Before & After):
When we bought this house, each room had a different color scheme. The living room had this purpleish/gray color on its walls. We recently painted the walls, using Ivory White and it feels and looks so much better!
Dining Room:
I would love to knock these walls off and integrate kitchen and dining room. But we can’t do those things at the moment. But we still love the space! It’s where we keep our records and record player, and most importantly, where we have our meals together 🙂
Downstairs Bathroom:
Our Bedroom:
This room still needs a ton of work! Missing a carpet, a few floor plants, night stands and lamps. I plan on doing a blog post dedicated to our bedroom once it’s finished. For now, this is what we have, and even though it’s so simple, our bedroom is one of our favorite areas of the house. It gets so much light during the day, I love coming in here in the afternoon just to hear the birds outside our window and enjoy that beautiful light.

(Messy) Playroom Downstairs:
This is our messy room. I have a hard time keeping it organized. But we do have many plans for it. We want to extend the Montessori style to this room as well. Along with Waldorf learning areas, that will include art and music. We have all the materials we need for that, just need to take the time to organize them nicely. First we have to get rid of all the toys Levi no longer plays with, and make room for educative stations throughout the room. Eventually it will be a neat learning place for the kids 🙂 Hopefully!

Kitchen:
Here’s what I didn’t cover in this post:
Bathroom Upstairs, Entryway, Basement and Laundry Room – Hopefully I will be able to take good pictures of all of these places soon 🙂
This is our home, guys! I hope you enjoyed the tour! If you want to follow along with our renovations, follow me on Instagram here.
