I can recognize your laugh from far away. I can translate your babbles, I know what you mean when you shake your hands up in the air asking me to sing your favorite song. I know what makes you shy, and I also know what can make you cry. I love it when you change the tone of your voice to say “mama”. And when you are falling asleep, you hold my arm with both hands. I know you are saying “Please mama, stay”.
Dad and I were reading you a book the other day, and even though you couldn’t quite grasp the words, you did enjoy looking at the giraffe! You have been making all kinds of animal sounds lately. While we were going through the pages, I started to have this overwhelming feeling of gratitude. I realized how blessed your dad and I are, for having you. For being your parents. I began to thank the Lord for the amazing family He’s given me. And for the blessing of knowing you better than anyone else in the world.
“There are things about you quite unlike any other… things always known by your father or mother. So if you decide to be different one day, no worries… I’d know you anyway.
My eyes and my ears and my arms always know… from the top of your head to your tiniest toe.
I know you by heart, so my heart never misses. I’d even know by your whiskery kisses.
Fox or koala, giraffe or raccoon… anything, anywhere under the moon. Whatever it is you imagine to be, I’ll just be so proud you belong to me.
I’ll kiss every whisker and smooth every hear…
Because, child of mine, I’d know you anywhere.”
My sweet Levi, you are the greatest blessing that has ever happened to us and you are loved by so many. I’m beyond thankful for you, baby. So incredibly blessed to be your mama.
